Affectionately called the Bardadin by many in the BG3 and Dungeons and Dragons RPG community Creativity, this multiclass is one of the game’s most powerful. Though it’s possible to make a Bardadin that is primarily a Paladin, it’s actually better to put the majority of levels in the Bard class and put just two into Paladin.

Your attack summons thorny vines, dealing Weapon Damage and possibly Ensnaring your target. Ensnared creatures cannot move and take 1d6 Piercing damage at the start of each turn. An ally can use its help action to try and tear away the vines.

However, players who don’t mind getting a little more advanced should go with Protection and prepare their shield. Remember to toggle the reaction and take it when surrounded by enemies in close combat.

Cause a metal weapon or armour to glow red-hot and force the creature touching it to let go or receive Disadvantage on Attack Rolls and Ability Checks. If the creature is only wearing metal armour, it always rcccivcs Disadvantage. If the creature is still touching the metal, you can use a bonus action on subsequent turns to deal another 2d8 Fire damage and force the creature to let go or receive Disadvantage.

Magically Charm a humanoid to gain Advantage on Ability Checks in dialogue and prevent it from attacking. Enemies have Advantage on Saving Throws against being Charmed. When the spell ends, the target might accuse you of Charming them.

Target yourself or an ally to become Hastened. The creature has a +2 bonus to Armour Class, Advantage on Dexterity Saving Throws, its Movement Speed is doubled, and can take one additional Action per turn.

The Paladin Class in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the game’s most restrictive, as their core Class features and spells are determined by an Oath they are bound to. The Paladin Class is a Heavy armor user with Cleric-like healing and support abilities, but make a wrong move either in or out of combat, and you might lose access to Oath-based powers, the core part of each Paladin build.

Curse a creature so it takes additional damage whenever you attack it and to inflict Disadvantage on Ability Checks with an Ability of your choosing. If the target dies before the spell ends, you can use a bonus action to hex a new creature.

The best Paladin companions in BG3 are Halsin as your Support class, Gale as your primary Ranged damage source, and Astarion as your primary melee damage ally. Though you can change the class and specialization of any of your companions, these three come with strong pre-determined class and spec combos to balance out your Paladin party composition.

Astarion : Best suited for the Thief subclass, Astarion lets you access hidden, locked areas more easily and is capable of setting up complex combat strategies without attracting attention with Stealth.
